JAMIE TUUTA

Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Maru, Te Āti Awa, Taranaki Tūturu

Jamie is an uri of Taranaki Maunga and has had an unwavering commitment to advancing the aspirations of iwi of Taranaki.


He has over two decades of governance and leadership experience. He holds multiple leadership roles, including Chair of Sealord, Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Mutunga, Whakaata Māori and Ka Uruora. 

He also holds directorships on a number of iwi collective commercial vehicles and is the Chair of Pou Tahua, the economic arm of the National Iwi Chairs Forum, driving strategies for iwi-led economic success.

Jamie’s expertise spans strategy, investment, treaty settlement negotiations, primary industries, tourism, property development, and iwi enterprise. He is recognised for his ability to navigate complex governance structures while maintaining a strong foundation in Te Ao Māori and tikanga.

He is currently in the process of launching a startup mobile company called Kawe which is focused on delivering affordable mobile and digital services to whānau. 

Beyond his professional roles, Jamie is a father of seven children, committed to the growth and cultural development of his whānau and iwi. 

 

His dedication to creating long-term opportunities for future generations is reflected in his work fostering economic resilience, intergenerational wealth-building, and sustainable investment strategies. Jamie has received the Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leadership Award, Māori Young Business Leader of the Year, and a Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Waikato.
