JENNY-MAY CLARKSON

Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Kahu

Jenny-May Clarkson is a former police officer and celebrated Silver Fern, representing New Zealand on the international netball court from 1997 to 2003. In addition to her netball career, Jenny-May was also a New Zealand Women’s Touch representative, competing in the 1999 World Cup in Sydney. Her distinguished athletic achievements paved the way for her role as a commentator, debuting during the 2003 Netball World Championships. She has since become a familiar face in sports broadcasting, working with TV1 Sport and currently co-hosting TVNZ’s Breakfast. Jenny-May has also contributed to the development of netball as an assistant coach for the Northern Mystics and provided mentorship to young athletes through her role with High Performance Sport NZ (HPSNZ).

While her professional accomplishments are remarkable, Jenny-May places her greatest value on her personal lifes achievements and challenges. After meeting Dean Clarkson, she found true love and married him in 2015 and in 2018 Jenny-May’s greatest test came with the loss of her eldest brother to cancer, followed just four months later by the passing of her father.

Jenny-May has continued to lead a life of strength and resilience, balancing her career with the deep joys of whānau and personal fulfilment where Jenny-May and Dean are proud parents of twin boys, Atawhai and Te Manahau, and share a blended family with Dean’s two daughters.
