PROF. MATTHEW ROSKRUGE

Professor Matt Roskruge is an economist, Rutherford Discovery Fellow, and Director of Te Au Rangahau. He also serves as Associate Dean Māori at Massey Business School.
With a background in health and population economics, Professor Roskruge is an applied economist and social scientist specializing in applied econometrics, mixed-methods research, and kaupapa Māori approaches. His work focuses on social capital, population studies, public economics, and the Māori economy.
His research has been widely supported by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Te Apārangi Royal Society, Health Research Council of New Zealand, and Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga. Through collaboration with these organizations, he is helping to invigorate Māori economics and contribute to the long-term success of Māori in business and economics.
Outside of work, Matt has two kids, a cat, parrot, several fish and 15 native geckos which all keep him busy alongside the garden and the occasional gaming session.
